Real-life Story: Olivia

My name is Olivia. I have a Learning Disability. I live in a house in South Gloucestershire with two other people. We have support workers who help us. They make sure we are happy and safe in our home.

Before they even met me, my staff read my ‘Plan for Life’ so they knew about me and could understand what I am like.

Having a good support worker has helped me to be independent. My support workers get me going. They are helpful and kind to me. They help me to get every thing done with my jobs; like they help me to be on time.

They have helped me get independent using the buses.

My support worker can understand me. I like the way she talks to me. She is chatty and helpful. They put a smile on their face, and I love that.

I have my one-to-one time each week and it is a big highlight for me.

Since having my support worker, my confidence has shot up in the air.
